Unbothered

Strange enough these are all pieces I have worked into my work-wear and this is something I wore on a weekend. I have gained some weight in the hip region so I haven't been thrilled about wearing denim, these pants are from Joe Fresh which have been a favorite to go place for me for workwear. They are called the 'Audrey', they have the right amount of spandex and they are cut nice and skinny; just waiting for them to come back in season (hint hint Joe Fresh).

Lately I've been spending money on clothing, either on new clothing or alterations at the tailor. I am obsessed with the tailor right now, I can't believe I have gone this far in life without understanding the importance of something being sculpted to my body. I am also opting for spending more for better materials. With having more luxurious pieces I learned the effect of having things dry cleaned and how it reserves the garment and also with my non luxurious pieces I've learned how to handle them with care to extend their life span.

I have been gravitating towards a lot of black, deep purples, dark florals, neutrals like camel, eggshell and mauve, although I am still on the prowl for hunter green and brown garments.  Since the season changed brighter hues are on sale and so I shop ahead and I've purchased pieces in baby pink and fuchsia. I think pops of color during the fall and winter are refreshing and buying things on sale for next spring and summer is wallet friendly.

There's this thing about New Yorker's and black and I have never really participated in that, although I have grown to appreciate a LBD and all of it's versatilities. I also read somewhere that when you find something that fits well, you should buy it in multiple colors. So to me, that LBD can easily be a LRD, or a LWD. I think the fit of a dress is more important than what color it is.

Usually I tend to feel some sort guilt purchasing clothing but it is mainly work clothes so it qualifies as a necessity, give or take a new pair of Koral jeans that have changed my life...

I'm going to ramble a bit so here's the warning….

First off, I can't believe it's been so many days since my last post, life! Between driving long distances, automobile repairs, catching up on all my shows (Walking Dead, Scandal, Once Upon A Time), seeing Solange live (in Boston!) and eating frozen yogurt and homemade brownies…I've been doing everything besides blogging. I just finally got in from Boston and I am exhausted and tomorrow I have two meetings in the city ugh! I went to see Solange last night at the Paradise Rock Club where she sold out and gave one hell of a performance. She did all the tracks from True and a few from her previous album but one of my favorite highlights of the evening was her singing Selena's "I Could Fall In Love". Such a sweet surprise and every girl in the audience loved every minute of it.

For the pass few weeks my "whats in my bag post" some time back, has been receiving a ton of page views so I've been working on a updated post. I've been carrying this bag around with me everywhere and I know you guys are probably tired of seeing it but I love it so much! and I fit a lot of useful good stuff in here, so I can't wait to share it :)

Okay I have so much to do to prepare for what's going to be the longest Thursday of my life so I'll see you guys soon!

℅ Johnny
(Zara Knit, F21 Denim, Aldo tassel wedges, Casio watch)

What was suppose to be an attempt to trim my split dead ends turned into a new hair cut. Not by my choice, my beautician was simply scissor happy and not listening to my requests. I, however, am not completely disappointed with my cut, I've learned to make the best out of bad hair cuts. If it wasn't for  my bad hair cut in 2009 there would be no Tiff James Deen.  I voyaged off to the library on campus where Johnny studies. I just couldn't believe that he's managed this far in life without reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In fact, when I referenced Mark Twains famous character, he replied by asking if Tom Sawyer was "some blogger" - he was either 1. raised by wolves or 2. a martian.

The town

Thursday, December 01, 2011

The other night (when it was warm) Lauren and I took a walk around Polish town. A short walk, because Polish town is but so big. Friday is my last day as a long Island resident. I'm going to miss this scenery, driving to Laurens, playing with my grandma and everyone at the firm (especially Alaina & Patty).  Hopefully I'll be able to visit as soon as I'm settled in and new work schedule permits me to do so.

New eatery alert!!! If you're in the eastern Long Island area stop by Farm Country Kitchen. My coworkers have been obsessing over FCK and anyone who knows me know I am a hungry hungry hippo. I tried the crab cake sandwhich and I am in love. In other news I have exciting news to share with you guys, this September I'll be attending the IFB Conference in NYC! I got my ticket the other day and I still haven't come down from my high! I can't wait to mingle with all the bloggers. The conference is scheduled for September 7th, at Milk studios. If you haven't purchased your tickets yet...well what are you waiting for?

(Kimchi Blue Romper, Zara Heels, Aldo jewelry)
Up until this point I was skeptical about whether or not this romper was lingerie. I'm still unsure but its so lightweight and dainty it's just too perfect for the muggy weather here in New York.

I purchased these shoes at Zara a few months back. Lately I've been gravitating towards shoes without platforms and a more casual heel, even though I'll tell anyone that five inch heels are just as casual :) I like the versatility. It really changes the entire tone of a outfit when you subtract the platform. Either way I love all my shoes just the same. These in particular are giving my wardrobe the perfect "pop" of color.

(H&M Bathing Suit, Casio Watch, Aldo Earrings)

Five facts about me

1. My favorite place is the beach for more than a million reasons. Sand is the greatest exfoliator and every time I go my sisters and I "exfoliate" dramatically :)

2. My eyes are super sensitive to light. Not only do I wear contacts but I wear glasses about 50% of the time.

3. I only drink water at room temperature. Cold water hurts my throat.

4. I have an unhealthy obsession with almonds, soy milk and California rolls.

5. I'm a retired modern jazz and tap dancer.
